The Service Leadership Academy (SLA) is housed in Lake Hall and is open to students from all majors and colleges across campus. Students interested in strengthening their leadership skills should consider joining the SLA.
- A fuller understanding of one's individual leadership style
- An ability to work as a member of a larger team
- A connection to the surrounding community
- Experience working with members of a diverse community
- An understanding of leadership as a means for empowering others
- A living environment that emphasizes the importance of helping others
SLA members will have the opportunity to participate in programs and workshops that address civic and community responsibility, collegiate activism, and leadership growth and development.
Requirements for admission:
The Service Leadership Academy is open for all first-year Kent State University students living in on-campus housing, who are committed to furthering their personal growth and leadership development.
How do I join?
To join the SLA program, simply request to be placed in the Service Leadership Academy in the Living-Learning section (Section 7) on your residence hall application and choose Lake Hall as your number one choice. The Department of Residence Services will try its best to accommodate all room requests, however, we cannot guarantee your request will be filled. Due to space limitations, these community spaces will be filled in a first come first serve basis and may fill up quickly.
