Manager:
The Web content manager is responsible for
maintaining current information that is error free and useful as well as
creating new content and acting as a go between for information gathering.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Updating ResTV Schedule
- Reviewing dated materials on Web
sites
- Maintaining Staff Directory
List
- Developing new content for Web
sites
- Proofing communications
- Maintaining Digital Library
- Collecting materials for sites (Res Renu,
etc.)
- Assist in technical
documentation
- Assist in specification
writing
These responsibilities will
require 10 to 30 hours per week. They will work from the development
office. ResNet, Departmental Computing and WWW Development will
utilize them. They will report to WWW development manager. Content
managers could develop Web skills and advance to Web developer and Webmaster positions, although it is not required.

Web Developer:
Web developers maintain the Web
sites look, feel and organization. These people develop graphics,
technical aspects of the pages, navigation and layout. Avenues for
advancement include becoming Webmaster and training to become an
application developer.
Skills Include:

Application Developer: The application
developer has similar skills as a Web developer with less emphasis placed
on graphics and more emphasis on creating data-backed sites. Application
developers use SQL Server and ASP extensively to create dynamic, Web-based
tools. They must be skilled in programming logic, validation, GUI and
database design. Skills Include:
- HTML, StyleSheets, JavaScript
- ASP
- SQL Server
- Visual Studio

Office
Advancement opportunities include the title of senior application
developer, which allows greater database responsibilities as well as more
project management and training.
