Department of Residence Services
Welcome to the Department of Residence Services website. Whether you are planning to live in the residence halls, or still trying to make the decision, this website will act as an online resource guide to help answer any questions that you may have. Please browse the website thoroughly, as there is a lot of information about the on-campus experience that will be important to you.

I truly hope that you are excited about the opportunities that await you on-campus at Kent State University. The on-campus experience gives you the unique opportunity to live in a community with over 6500 of your closest friends, peers, and classmates. You may never have an opportunity like this again. When you live on-campus you learn more about yourself and others, truly experience KSU, and are more prepared for life after college. There is no substitute for this experience; truly the most memorable of your life.

There are 34 traditional residence halls here at Kent State University. These buildings each offer an assortment of options in terms of room accommodations. If you would like a residence hall with less than 100 hall mates – we have them. If you would prefer a hall with several hundred – we have those also. Single rooms, double rooms, air conditioning, loftable furniture & microfridge – each hall offers different things to a student.

As explained on the Learning Communities website, several theme and learning communities exist for a student to find their niche. The important academic focus of the classroom can be transferred to the living environment with additional activities and support from faculty and staff.

The first step in beginning to take advantage of all these great opportunities is to apply for housing. Kent State University is one of very few institutions that will allow you to select your housing early and make changes if you are unhappy with your assignment. If you have any questions related to residence hall living, please do not hesitate to contact us at: (330) 672-7000 or 1-800-706-8941, or assignments@res.kent.edu.

We at the Department of Residence Services truly hope that we are able to help make KSU your university – and your home.

Sincerely,

T. J. Logan
