Question: How can you meet everyone on your floor, be a part of a community, and start your major even before you get to campus?
Answer: By joining the Educational Learning Community!
The Educational Learning Community (ELC) here at KSU is designed for students who have aspirations to become a teacher and who have been admitted to a teaching licensure program. ELC living-learning community members reside in Centennial Court B.
As a member of the ELC, faculty is readily accessible. One of our most experienced professors serves as the Residential College Professor and will hold a weekly meeting in the residence hall. In addition, the student instructors who assist in students' First Year Experience FLASH Point class will be education majors.
The Education Program at Kent State University is challenging, but the ELC concentrates our efforts to help you succeed. Secondly, there is much more to learn about teaching than that which is learned in class. In learning about yourself and learning with others who share the same commitment to education, you will also begin to understand your potential for leadership in the education profession.
As a part of ELC, you will experience programs and activities that will allow you to interact with current teachers and administrators in the field of education. You will also be exposed to the many student led organizations that the College has to offer.
