Every first-year student is on a 'Quest' to make connections. This Living-Learning Community, located in Stopher Hall, will assist first-year students of any major with getting connected to all that their residence hall, the university, and the Kent community have to offer.
Quest is housed in Stopher Hall with living space, classroom space, and faculty and staff offices built in together such that students only need to walk down the hall from their room to be immersed in a supportive, academic environment.
Members will embark on a quest to think about, discuss, define, and live the following principles to help them create their paths to success through hall programming, workbook activities, and shared classes:
- Engaged, transformative learning
- Decision making that is ethically informed and socially responsible
- Cultural competence for membership in a diverse world
- Responsible and responsive citizenship for the common good
After completing the Quest program, outstanding members will have the opportunity to apply to live in Stopher Hall as mentors to the next incoming group of Quest students.
Some past activities in the Quest program are community service projects, Hall of Diversity, bowling, t-shirts, monthly Quest newsletters, planning committees, Quest focus group, painting “the rock”, meeting the Dean of Students, monthly meetings, Flash Line on-line discussion boards, Faculty Learning Community luncheon.
To join the Quest program, simply request to be placed in Quest in the Living-Learning section (section 7) on your residence hall application and choose Stopher Hall to reside in as your number one choice. The Department of Residence Services will try its best to accommodate all room requests, however, we cannot guarentee your request will be filled. You muse complete and submit a Community application:
Download and submit the application form provided here. Both the residence hall and Community application are required for students to be considered for this program.
