Security Aides
The security aide program is comprised of
approximately 65 trained students employed by the Department of Residence
Services. Security aides are responsible for patrolling the residence halls and
providing campus escorts between the hours of 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. seven days a
week. Escorts are available throughout the campus when security aides are on
duty. To get an escort contact the security aide dispatcher at 27004 or ask a
security aide. The presence of security aides in the halls is intended to serve
as a deterrent to crime and other problems. Each security aide is required to
complete a 40 hour training program yearly. Security aides are in direct
contact with each other and the campus police department via two-way radios.
Additional responsibilities include checking fire equipment, assisting in
emergencies, and checking locked entrance doors.
