Services Provided

Our office's main focus is to help with internet connection issues in residence halls. You must live on campus to receive the support.

Services will be provided if:
  • You are unable to go to any websites
  • You are getting a 'Network cable unplugged' error in Windows XP when you are correctly plugged in with an Ethernet cable
  • Getting a 'Limited or No Connectivity' error in Windows XP or if you are unable to get a Kent State IP address
  • Unable to successfully log into Cisco Clean Access with correct ID and password*

If connection issues are caused by hardware issues, we will usually direct you to the computer manufacturer or advise you on what to purchase to repair the hardware. If the problems are due to spyware or viruses, there may be a charge for removal services. Please see the TechSpot Page for more information.

We provide limited technical support with issues below:
  • Computer startup or hardware issues
  • Software installation - You must have the original, licensed installation CDs
  • Hardware replacement and installation issues
We are not able to assist with the following:
  • Printers
  • Monitors
  • Keyboards and Mice
  • Speakers
  • MP3 players
