    Steps to Academic Advising Success!
    • 1) Find out who your adviser is - (see the information below)
    • 2) Schedule an appointment - Contact your adviser to schedule an appointment to meet with him/her. They get busy so the sooner you call the better. Make sure you schedule you appointment before Spring Registration. Also, when you call, ask if you need to bring anything with you. Some advising offices may have walk-in hours which are also an option; however you will probably have to wait in line.
    • 3) Pick classes - Choose classes that you want to take and look for time and location conflicts.
    • 4) Be prepared with questions - See the section on important questions to ask your advisor! Be sure to write your questions down so you don’t forget them!
    • 5) Be on time! - Don’t waste your adviser’s time by being late! Remember to bring what they asked you to!

"Repeat for Recalc." or "Freshman Forgiveness":
Kent State University has a freshman forgiveness policy, which allows students to repeat any course or courses taken at Kent State University during the freshman year in which the grade of C-,D+,D, F or U was earned. Under this policy, Kent State will only use the second grade in the calculation of the cumulative grade point average. Each course may be repeated only once under this policy. For more information on Freshman Forgiveness, visit the orientation webpage at http://dept.kent.edu/orientation/general/academics/forgiveness.asp
