Mid-Year Hiring Process
(RA positions for the Spring 2009 Semester)
If you are interested in a mid-year position and the 2009-2010 academic year position, you only need to fill out this application.
- July 7, 2008: Online Application Process opens. Complete applications submitted by September 12, 2008 will be reviewed and considered for interview for midyear applicants. Apply online through the application link on this website.
- September 8-19, 2008: Mid-year interviews will take place. Emails will be sent notifying eligible candidates of interview times and locations once all application materials are received (application, resume, essay, three references). Please check your kent.edu e-mail account regularly during this time.
- September 29, 2008 - November 14, 2008: 'Leadership in Students Affairs Course'. Students must register online for the course and successfully complete this course to be eligible for the RA candidate pool.
- Early December: Candidates are selected for RA positions from the pool of eligible candidates. Candidates will be notified before winter break whether or not they will be hired for the Spring 2009 semester.
- Applications received after September 12, 2008 will only be considered for AY 2009 - 2010 positions.

- IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU CHECK YOUR KENT.EDU EMAIL DURING THE ENTIRE RA SELECTION PROCESS. AUTOMATIC EMAILS REGARDING YOUR STATUS WILL BE SENT AS YOU MOVE THROUGH THE PROCESS.
- September - November 2008: Residence halls throughout campus will be hosting RA information meetings for interested students. (If you don’t catch one, stop by a Residence Hall Director (RHD)’s office to ask questions! They love company, and will be receptive and happy to help you discover the possibilities the Resident Assistant position may hold for you!)
- December 12, 2008: Resident Assistant applications for the 2009 - 2010 school year are due! Only complete applications (application, cover letter, résumé, 3 references) will be reviewed and considered for interviews. (NOTE: the cover letter replaces an earlier requirement to submit an essay in response to a question about diversity awareness. If you have already uploaded this essay, the cover letter is recommended but not required.)
- January 24, 2009: Individual interview day. (8:00 am-6:00 pm) Information regarding individual interviews will be sent to your kent.edu email address. Interviews are scheduled for one-hour time blocks.
- February 16, 2009 – April 10, 2009: 'Leadership in Student Affairs' course. Students must register online for the 'Leadership in Student Affairs' course and successfully complete this course to be eligible for the RA Candidate pool.
- April: Students will be notified in early April regarding their completion of the 'Leadership in Student Affairs' course and their status in the RA Candidate pool.
- May 1, 2009: RA Draft. Students will be emailed regarding the results of the draft.
